Birmingham Seals stocks a variety of metal bushes, we can offer you our metal-backed, PTFE-based (polytetrafluoroethylene) polymer bearings, which have common structure, consisting of a steel backing bonded to a porous bronze sinter layer. This bronze sinter layer is impregnated and overlaid with the filled PTFE bearing lining. These polymer bearing linings, being predominantly PTFE, offer exceptionally low friction.

DU – DUB styles

DU style: A dry bearing with good wear and friction performance over a wide range of loads, speeds and temperature conditions. This style also performs well with lubrication.

DUB style: A dry bearing material with good friction performance and wear over a wide range loads, speed and temperature conditions. Bronze backing provides improved corrosion resistance compared with the DU style. This style also performs well with lubrication.

Thermoplastic-based metal-polymer materials have a similar structure to the PTFE-based materials described above; but with these products, the bearing lining consists of a filled thermoplastic extruded tape. These materials are generally designed to operate with marginal lubrication.

DX – DX10 styles

DX style: A marginally lubricated bearing material for grease lubricated applications. Optimum performance under relatively high loads and low speeds.

DX10 style: This product has Excellent chemical & erosion resistance. Good fatigue strength and wear performance, and can be broached for tighter tolerances.
